Preparation:

The water supply shut off valves must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet.
Recommended Tools: Phillips Screwdriver, Pliers, Diverter Tool 141003

How to Remove the Handle

To Disassemble the handle, follow the numbers of the parts starting with #1. Compare the following images with the version you are working with.

For re-assembling the handle, follow the number of the parts in reverse order.

If you need to repair the escutcheon (*) for cosmetic reasons, it will come off by unthreading counterclockwise.

To Access the Diverter

Unthread the adjustment tube (A) from the escutcheon (*), see Figure 1.

Use the smaller side of the Diverter Tool part # 141003 to unthread and remove the hex nut (B), see Figure 2.

Grab ahold of the handle stem (C) and pull the entire diverter canister (D) from the valve.
Push the diverter (E) from the top down out of the bottom of the canister (D), see Figure 3.

If you received new O-rings (F), remove the existing O-rings (F) and place the new O-rings onto the diverter canister (D), see Figure 4.
Begin to slide the diverter back (E) up into the diverter canister (D) (see Figure 4). Notice the two vertical ribs (G) on the diverter, see Figure 5. Align the vertical ribs (G) on the diverter to the inside of the diverter canister.
Then push the diverter back up into the bottom of the diverter canister, see Figure 4.
Push the diverter canister with the installed diverter (E) back in the valve.
Thread the hex nut back on, see Figure 2.
