Bathroom Faucet: Low Flow

Recommendations: As a starting point to troubleshooting low flow, it is recommended to always check that the water supply shut off valves under the sink have not been turned off.

Due to National Conservation Laws, Moen manufactures all Bathroom sink faucets at a 1.2 gallons per minute.

Temperature Specific Reduction: Only hot water or cold water exhibits less than normal flow.

When replacing the cartridge or cleaning the In-line filters, the water supply shut off valves must be turned off-see article, How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet.

Replace the cartridge. For additional articles, visit solutions.moen.com and select the type of faucet you are repairing.

Clean the In-line filters: (This applies to some models)

The filters are located in the hot and cold supply lines that come down from the faucet. They will be located in the brass portion of the hot and cold supply lines. They can be accessed by unthreading with a wrench. Remove and rinse debris from the filter screen. Reassemble the filter into housing and tighten using two wrenches. Turn the water supplies back on.

Overall Low Water Flow: There is lower than normal flow when both hot and cold water are operated together. Spout Aerator Blockage: To test, remove the spout aerator from the end of the spout by unthreading it clockwise. Remove any debris and reinstall. Test the water. If the problem persists replace the spout aerator. Spout Aerator Blockage: To test, remove the spout aerator from the end of the spout by unthreading it clockwise. Remove any debris and reinstall. Test the water. If the problem persists replace the spout aerator.
