Bathroom Faucet Drains: Nonmetallic 14526

This article explains the steps to installing a bathroom faucet drain assembly that is all plastic.

Installation: 

1. Remove the colored protective film from the top of the Waste Plug (#1).

2. Apply sealant to the underside of the Waste Seat (#2) and position it into the drain opening.

3. Unthread the Mounting Nut, and remove the Washer and Drain Gasket (#3).

4. From below the sink, slide the the Drain Gasket (tapered side up) and the Washer (#3) onto the Waste Seat (#2). Secure them by threading the Mounting Nut (#3) onto the Waste Seat (#2) and tighten with a wrench.

5. Insert the O-ring (#4) into the groove at the top of the Tail Piece (#5) and thread the Tail Piece (#5) onto the Waste Seat (#2) making sure the opening located on the side of the Tail Piece (#5) is facing the back of the sink.

6. On the top of the sink, wipe off any excess sealant. Slide the Waste Plug (#1) into the sink drain opening and slide the Lift Rod (#8) through the top of the faucet.

  • Vandal Resistant (Waste Plug cannot be removed) -insert the Pivot Rod (#10) through the opening at the bottom of the Waste Plug (#1).

  • Easy to clean (Waste Plug can be removed)-insert the Pivot Rod (#10) into the opening without the Waste Plug (#1) installed

7. Above the sink, slide the Lift Rod (#8) into the Lift Rod Strap (#9). Tighten the built-in screw on the Lift Rod Strap (#9).

8. Insert the white nylon Pivot Rod Seat (#6) into the Tail Piece (#5) with the cupped side facing outward.

9. Insert the Pivot Rod (#10) into the Tail Piece (#5) and hand tighten the Plastic Pivot Rod Nut (#7).

10. Place the Pivot Rod Clip (#11) over the lowest hole position on the Lift Rod Strap (#9) and squeeze the Pivot Rod Clip (#11). See image below.

11. Loosen the screw on the Lift Rod Strap (#9). Ensure the Lift Rod (#8) is in the down position on the top of the faucet. Tighten the screw on the Lift Rod Strap (#9).
