How to Operate a Two Handle Bathroom Faucet 4" Spread without a Handle

 

This guide will explain how to operate a Moen faucet with a broken or missing handle. If the faucet has been disassembled or is in the process of being serviced, follow the guidelines below to see what is required in order to safely operate the faucet.

If your faucet does not have two handles or does not measure 4" from the center of the hot handle to the center of the cold handle, please visit solutions.moen.com for all other bathroom faucet choices.

Tools Needed: Pliers

Centerset And Mini-Widespread

 A center set or mini-widespread is a faucets that measure 4" from the center of the hot handle to the center of the cold handle.

Mini Widespread

Do not turn your home water supply on if the cartridge nut (see image below) is missing or not securely in place.

Use pliers to turn the water on and off.

Hot:

  1. Rotate the white plastic stem clockwise for off. 
  2. Rotate the white plastic stem counter-clockwise for hot water.

Cold:

  1. Rotate the white plastic stem counter-clockwise for off
  2. Rotate the white plastic stem clockwise for cold water.
