One Handle Deck Mount: Replacing Handshower and 1417 or 141798 Elbow

Preparation: The water supply shut off valves must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet.

Replacing the Handshower

Disassembly:

  1. Secure the handshower hose (D) by tying a towel around it so that it does not retract under the deck of the tub.
  2. Unthread the handshower (A) counter-clockwise from the elbow (C). If the screen washer (B) is being replaced or cleaned, it can be found in the threaded portion of the handshower (A).
  3. If the threading on the original handshower (A) is broken, remove any broken pieces from the elbow (B).

Assembly:

  1. When reassembling, ensure the screen washer is positioned between the handshower (A) and elbow (C).
  2. Thread the handshower (A) into the elbow (C) clockwise.
  3. Remove the towel securing the handshower hose (D).
Replacing the 1417 or 141798 Elbow

Disassembly:

  1. Secure the handshower hose (D) by tying a towel around it so that it does not retract under the deck of the tub.
  2. Unthread the handshower (A) counter-clockwise.
  3. Unthread the elbow (C) counter-clockwise from the handshower hose (D).

Assembly:

  1. Thread the elbow (C) into the handshower hose (D).
  2. Thread the handshower (A) into the elbow (C) clockwise.
  3. Remove the towel securing the handshower hose (D).
