Identify Your Diverter Lift Rod Style

How to Remove the Spout & Diverter:

1. Lift up on the diverter lift rod knob (A). Place a pair of pliers on the rod and unthread the diverter lift rod counterclockwise (A) to remove it from the spout (D).

2. Gently remove the plug button (B) from the back of the spout (D).

3. Using a 5/32" Hex wrench, loosen the set screw (C) until you can lift the spout (D) from the deck.

4. Place the diverter tool 161773 (E) with the 4 notches facing down into the valve until it connects with the lower diverter nut. To loosen the diverter nut rotate it counterclockwise. If there is resistance when trying to rotate the diverter nut, place a screwdriver in the two holes at the top of the diverter tool (E). This will act as a handle, helping rotate the 161773 (E) diverter tool. Once the diverter nut is loose, remove the diverter tool (E).

5. Thread the diverter lift rod (A) clockwise into the top of the diverter. You will use the diverter lift rod knob (A) as a handle to pull the diverter out from the valve.

6. Unthread the diverter from the diverter lift rod (A) and set the diverter lift rod (A) aside for installation.

How to Install the Diverter & Spout:

1. Install the new diverter (G) into the valve with the black plunger facing towards the bottom of the valve.

2. Slide the diverter nut (F) over the diverter (G) with the 4 notches facing up.

3. Insert the diverter tool 161773 (E) with the 4 notches facing down into the valve until it connects with the lower diverter nut. Rotate the diverter tool (E) clockwise to tighten the nut. Remove the diverter tool (E).
