Shower Handle: Standard Valve- Lever Type 1

Moen produces a variety of single handle shower trims. The interior components and assembly are not the same for each model. This article will explain one of the more common handle assemblies referred to as a Lever Style 1. This is for a Standard Valve System, and it utilizes a 1225 cartridge.

  2. Remove the handle (#2).

For replacing the cartridge (#3), see article 1225 Cartridge: Single Handle Shower-Standard Valve.

Assembly:

Confirm that the cartridge clip is installed and rotate the stem of the cartridge (#3) so the small notch is facing down.

  1. Slide the handle (#2) back onto the stem of the cartridge (#3).
  2. Screw the Phillips screw (#1) in.

Note: If after testing you notice the hot and cold are reversed, see article How to Reverse Hot and Cold for a 1225 Cartridge in Shower.
