Fast Water Flow
What does Fast Water Flow mean?
Fast Water Flow is a critical alert related to a high rate of water flow. This means that Flo has detected that one or more of your home plumbing fixtures have collectively exceeded the normal rate of water flow that is typically seen in your home or considered normal at that certain point in time.
Causes for the Alert
This could mean that:
- Multiple water fixtures are simultaneously using more water than normal
- One or more water fixtures are using water at a higher rate of flow than normal.
- A pipe in your home water supply may have burst.
If you do not promptly reply (within 5 minutes) to this critical alert, Flo will shut off your water as a precautionary measure. The Flo Shutoff device will shut off the water if you do not respond within 5 minutes or the alert does not resolve in 5 minutes.
What do I do about Fast Water Flow?
- Known Source Causing the Alert- If you received this alert and were simultaneously using more water fixtures than normal, or one or more water fixtures were using water at a higher rate of flow than normal, you may consider clearing the alert and taking no further action.
- Unknown Source Causing the Alert- If you’re not sure why you received this alert, this may mean that part of your home water supply is leaking. Flo recommends immediately shutting off your water as a precautionary measure and inspecting your home and all water fixtures for any signs of water.
If you notice a leak, immediately take steps to limit the resulting damage and contact your local plumber or Flo Support for assistance.
What do I do about Fast Water Flow?
- You Were Using Water for a Longer Period of Time Than Normal- If you received this alert and were using water for a longer period of time than normal, like taking a longer shower, washing a car, or filling a pool, you may consider clearing the alert and taking no further action.
- Sleep Mode- You can set your Flo System to “Sleep mode” before starting activities that will require water constantly running longer than normal.
- Ignore- If you plan to continue running water for a long period of time, you can also choose to ‘Ignore’ future alerts for the next 2 or 24 hours.
- If You Were Not Using a Large Amount of Water- If you were not using a large amount water when you received the alert, this may mean that part of your home water supply is vulnerable and water may be causing damage.
- Turn off Water- As a precautionary measure, Flo recommends immediately shutting off your water and inspecting your home and all water fixtures for any signs of water.
- Check Faucets & Toilets- Double check any faucets or toilets in case they have been left running. Even a slight trickle over an extended period of time can trigger this alert.
How Settings Can Impact this Alert
- FloSense Sensitivity- When a device goes through initial learning FloSense determines a set of values that will trigger a critical alert and potential shutoff. If FloSense is not active there is a secondary set of values that the device relies on to trigger an alert.
- Manual Override- The threshold in a manual override is determined by the customer. When the override is present, FloSense is overridden.
Troubleshooting:
- Check in the App for Manual Overrides
- Review the thresholds and make adjustments as needed.
If you set Manual Overrides, and you continue to get this alert, contact us at Flo Support for assistance.
