How To Identify Your Moen Kitchen Faucet Cartridge

 

Kitchen Cartridge Identification Chart:

What is a cartridge?

 The cartridge is the entire basis for the faucet's function. It controls the operation of the handle, flow and temperature control of the water. A cartridge will remedy a leak or drip from a faucet. 

Single Handle Faucets (Prior to 2009):

Screw Location:

The handle will either have a removable cap that exposes a Phillip screw or a 7/64" Allen screw.

Set screw is located in front of the handle with a plug button.

Handle Rotation:

Handle will rotate from 3 O’clock to 9 O’clock or 360 degrees depending on models.

Faucet Supply Lines:

Copper supply lines come down from the faucet.

Single Handle Faucets (2006 to 2009):

Set Screw Location:

A 3/32" Allen screw is located behind the handle.

NOTE: On a sidemount faucet, the 3/32 "set screw is located on the bottom of the handle.

Handle Rotation:

Handle will rotate from 8’ O’clock to 4 O’clock.

NOTE: Sidemount will rotate from 10 O’clock to 2 O’clock.

Faucet Supply Lines:

Copper supply lines come down from the faucet. 

*If you see flexible supply lines coming down from the faucet, please see Single Handle Faucet (2009-Present).

Set Screw Location:

A 3/32" Allen screw is located in the front of the handle with a plug button.

Note: On a sidemount faucet, the 3/32" setscrew is located on the underside of the handle with a plug button.

Handle Rotation:

Handle will rotate from 8’ O’clock to 4 O’clock.

NOTE: Sidemount will rotate from 9 O’clock to 1 O’clock.

Flexible supply lines come down from the faucet.

Lever handle will rotate 90 degrees.

Cartridges are not interchangeable:

The 1224(B) and Duralast 1234 cartridges are not interchangeable.

Cartridge Number:

1224(B) is used in both the hot and cold handle.

Uses a Stainless Steel 3/32” Allen Screw a Self-tapping Phillips.
Handle Rotation:

Lever handle will rotate 90 degrees.
