This guide will explain how to identify a Moen lavatory sink drain.

Push Button Drain



The overflow drain is a plumbing feature that is added to prevent overflowing with water in case of a clog. Sinks are often equipped with one of these secondary drains, with connects to your lavatory sink drain.

Lift Rod Drain Assembly

All metal drain assemblies use a metal  pivot rod nut (See arrow).

     50/50 Drain Assembly 96497                    

50/50 (Half metal, half non-metallic) drain assemblies uses a 2 winged plastic wing nut (See arrow).

Non-metallic Drain Assembly 139246 (obsolete), 14526 or 151018

Non-metallic drain assemblies use either a 2 winged or 4 winged plastic nut (See arrow).

  • 4 Wings: If the faucet is the Chrome or Mediterranean Bronze finish
  • 2 Wings: If the faucet is the Classic Stainless finish
