Identifying And Operating

The following instructions will explain how to operate your faucet without a handle being attached. If the faucet has been disassembled or in the process of being serviced, follow the guidelines below to see what is required in order to safely operate the faucet. If the faucet is leaking with the cartridge in the off position, you will need to turn the main water off to the faucet and discontinue use until the faucet can be serviced. Use the pictures below to identify your faucets cartridge type.

For Top Mount Handles:

Make sure the upper bearing washer is in position on the valve body.  Secure the black crown ring into the top of the spout so the gap in the ring is around the tab on the black valve body.  To ensure the crown ring is seated properly, gently pull upwards on the spout. If the crown ring is seated properly, the spout will not lift off.   Click here for image.
