Identifying And Operating

The following instructions will explain how to operate your faucet without a handle being attached. If the faucet has been disassembled or in the process of being serviced, follow the guidelines below to see what is required in order to safely operate the faucet. If the faucet is leaking with the cartridge in the off position, you will need to turn the main water off to the faucet and discontinue use until the faucet can be serviced.

Requirements to safely operate:

In order to ensure that a shower is safe to use without a handle attached, make sure that the cartridge, retainer clip* and cartridge nut*  are installed and securely in place

Flow Handle

Cartridge nut needs to be threaded down onto the valve.  Do not use if the cartridge nut is not threaded down onto the valve.

Flow Handle (Two Handle Tub/Shower and Three Handle Tub and Shower):

Cold Water Handle-With a pair of needle nose pliers, rotate the stem of the handle adapter to turn the water on on off.

Hot Water Handle-With a pair of needle nose pliers, rotate the stem of the handle adapter to turn the water on on off.

 If there are broken pieces that will not allow the handle adapter to operate correctly, remove the handle adapter pieces and slide the needle nose pliers into the cartridge nut for on/off operation.

Diverter Handle (Three Handle Tub and Shower):

Ensure the retainer clip is secure in the valve.

Remove the diverter stem and pull the stem of the cartridge out before rotating to divert the water.
