-Phillips screwdriver and
-Either Needle nose pliers OR Moen tool #14272 (Purchased separately) 

 

NOTE:

If using Cartridge Nut Removal tool #14272, follow steps 1-10 on pages 3-5.

If using Needle-nose pliers, follow steps 1-12 on pages 6-7.

Disassembly Using Cartridge Nut Removal Tool
1. Unscrew handle hub counter-clockwise while holding lever in place

2. Lift and remove handle assembly

3. Using cartridge nut removal tool, unscrew retaining nut

4. Remove cartridge retainer nut

5. Using pliers, pull up on red or blue stem extension which will also pull cartridge

6. Unscrew Phillips screw from within stem extension and discard cartridge

7. Place stem extension on new cartridge and tighten Phillips screw firmly

8. Insert extension and cartridge with tab on cartridge aligned with notch in valve; once aligned, push down until it drops into position

9. Re-insert cartridge retaining nut

10. Insert cartridge nut removal tool onto cartridge retaining nut and tighten clockwise

11. Rotate red extension (hot side) clockwise until stopping point; Rotate blue extension (cold side) counterclockwise until stopping point

12. Replace handle assembly with levers pointing in “off” position; Tighten handle hub while holding lever in “off” position

Disassembly Using Needle-nose Pliers
1. Unscrew handle hub counter-clockwise while holding lever in place sb12 part 2 image 1.png
2. Lift and remove handle assembly sb12 part 2 image 2.png
3. Remove Phillips head screw sb12 part 2 image 3.png
4. Remove stem extension sb12 part 2 image 4.png
5. Insert needle nose pliers into valve so they rest against the elevated tabs of retainer nut; unscrew counter-clockwise and remove sb12 part 2 image 5.png
6. Re-insert stem extension and tighten screw sb12 part 2 image 6.png
7. Using pliers, pull up on red or blue stem extension which will also pull cartridge sb12 part 2 image 7.png
8. Unscrew Phillips screw from within stem extension and discard cartridge sb12 part 2 image 8.png
9. Place stem extension on new cartridge and tighten Phillips screw firmly sb12 part 2 image 9.png
10. Insert extension and cartridge with tab on cartridge aligned with notch in valve; once aligned, push down until it drops into position b12 part 2 image 10.png
11. Re-insert cartridge retaining nut b12 part 2 image 11.png
12. Use needle nose pliers to tighten retaining nut sb12 part 2 image 12.png
13. Rotate red extension (hot side) clockwise until stopping point; Rotate blue extension (cold side) counterclockwise until stopping point sb12 part 2 image 13.png
14. Replace handle assembly with levers pointing in “off” position; Tighten handle hub while holding lever in “off” position sb12 part 2 image 14.png
