When Should I Use Sleep Mode?

Turn on Sleep Mode before any planned activity that may cause unusual or extended water usage, such as:

• Filling a pool, hot tub, or spa
• Running sprinklers or irrigation systems
• Washing a vehicle or pressure washing
• Hosting guests
• Plumbing, maintenance, or contractor work
• Testing appliances or water systems

Using Sleep Mode helps prevent unnecessary alerts or water shutoffs during these activities.

How Does Sleep Mode Work?

While Sleep Mode is active:

• Water flow is still monitored.
• Alert notifications are paused.
• Automatic shutoff is disabled.
• Water can run without interruption until the activity is complete.

Think of Sleep Mode as temporarily telling Moen Flo Shutoff, "I expect unusual water use right now."

Why Is Sleep Mode Helpful?

FloSense™ learns the normal water usage patterns in your home and looks for activity that may indicate a leak or other problem.

Sometimes a planned activity can look unusual to the system. For example, a much longer shower, filling a pool, or a day with several house guests may use more water than Moen Flo Shutoff expects.

Sleep Mode allows those events to happen without generating alerts or triggering an automatic shutoff. It can also help FloSense™ observe complete water usage events and better understand changing household patterns over time.

How Long Does Sleep Mode Last?

You can enable Sleep Mode for up to 72 hours.

• Select a duration that fits your needs.

·         Moen Flo Shutoff automatically returns to Home Mode when the timer expires.

• You can switch back to Home Mode at any time.

How to Turn On Sleep Mode

1. Open the Moen Smart Water app.
2. Navigate to your Moen Flo Shutoff menu screen.
3. Tap on the drop-down menu next to My Flo Modes.
4. Select Sleep.
5. Choose duration.
6. Tap Save.

To end Sleep Mode early, return to the same menu and select Home Mode.

Important

While Sleep Mode is active:

·         Moen Flo Shutoff will not send alerts.

• Automatic shutoff is disabled.
• The system will not respond to abnormal water usage or leaks.

Only use Sleep Mode when you expect the water usage and are comfortable temporarily pausing Moen Flo Shutoff's active protection features.

Best Practice

For the best experience, enable Sleep Mode before starting any planned high-water-use activity. Once the activity is complete, return the system to Home Mode so Moen Flo Shutoff can resume normal monitoring and protection.

Sleep Mode ended earlier than expected

Sleep Mode automatically returns to Home Mode when the selected timer expires. If Sleep Mode has ended, verify whether the selected duration has elapsed and re-enable Sleep Mode if additional coverage is needed.

I'm still receiving alerts

If you continue receiving alerts, check that Sleep Mode is currently active in the Moen Smart Water app. If Sleep Mode is not active, the system will continue operating normally and may send alerts or automatically shut off water based on your settings.

My water was shut off while I expected Sleep Mode to be active

Verify that Sleep Mode was enabled before the water event began and remained active throughout the event. Automatic shutoff is disabled only while Sleep Mode is active.

I keep getting alerts for the same activity

If a specific activity regularly triggers alerts, enable Sleep Mode before the activity begins. For recurring or scheduled water usage, such as irrigation systems, consider creating a Manual Override instead of using Sleep Mode each time.

I'm troubleshooting unusual water usage

Sleep Mode can be helpful when investigating unknown or intermittent water usage because it prevents nuisance shutoffs while you monitor the activity. Once troubleshooting is complete, return the system to Home Mode.

Does Sleep Mode turn off water monitoring?

No. Moen Flo Shutoff continues monitoring water flow while Sleep Mode is active. However, alerts and automatic shutoff are suspended until Sleep Mode ends.

Will I receive notifications during Sleep Mode?

No. Moen Flo Shutoff will not send water usage alerts while Sleep Mode is active.

Can Moen Flo Shutoff automatically shut off my water during Sleep Mode?

No. Automatic shutoff is disabled while Sleep Mode is active.

How long can Sleep Mode stay active?

Sleep Mode can be enabled for up to 72 hours at a time. After the selected duration expires, the system automatically returns to Home Mode.

Can I turn off Sleep Mode early?

Yes. You can return to Home Mode at any time through the Moen Flo app.

Should I use Sleep Mode for irrigation or other recurring activities?

Sleep Mode works best for temporary or one-time events. For recurring water usage patterns, such as irrigation schedules, a Manual Override may be a better option.

Does Sleep Mode help FloSense™ learn new water usage patterns?

Sleep Mode allows planned water events to complete without interruption from alerts or automatic shutoff. This can help FloSense™ observe complete water usage events and adapt to changes in household water usage over time.

Is my home protected while Sleep Mode is active?

No. While Sleep Mode is active, Moen Flo Shutoff will not send alerts or automatically shut off water in response to unusual usage or leaks. Only use Sleep Mode when the water activity is expected and intentional.

When should I use Sleep Mode instead of Home Mode?

Use Sleep Mode when you expect unusually high or extended water usage that could trigger alerts, such as filling a pool, washing vehicles, hosting guests, or performing plumbing work. For normal day-to-day use, Home Mode should remain enabled.
