Moen Flo Shutoff Installation Tips

This article contains information relevant to the Moen Flo Shutoff, which was formerly known as the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff system.

Here are a couple tips and recommendations when installing the Moen Flo Shutoff:
  1. O-Rings
    • The Moen Flo Shutoff includes 2 additional O-Rings along with the 2 that are pre-installed on the device. If it is necessary to replace the O-Rings on theMoen Flo Shutoff, please make sure to add a liberal amount of Silicone Grease prior to installation. Make sure that the O-Rings are properly seated to ensure the proper fit and installation.
  2. Silicone Grease
    • Moen recommends using high quality silicone grease. The pre-installed O-rings are lubricated with Dow Corning's Molkcote 111.
  3. Teflon Tape
    •  Moen recommends using high quality PTFE teflon tape when wrapping the threaded ends of the homes piping to ensure a proper seal. Always inspect connections, with water pressure, for leaks before sealing them from access. 
  4. Securing the Moen Flo Shutoff-
    • \When securing the polymer union nuts on the Moen Flo Shutoff to the homes piping, Moen recommends that the installer "Hand Tightens" the union nuts and applies a 1/4 of an inch turn with the proper hand tool. Please take the necessary precautions to avoid over tightening the union nuts which may cause damage to the hardware.
