Description of what backup pump test is
- The Moen Smart Sump Pump Monitor can periodically check that your backup pump is working to provide you peace of mind that your backup will run if your primary pump loses power or malfunctions.
Description of how test works
- The Moen Smart Sump Pump Monitor has the ability to periodically shut off the primary pump and watch the water level in your sump/crock to know that your backup pump is working properly. If you select a “Backup Pump Test Frequency” from the “Backup Pump Information” screen (Under Settings), you enable the Moen Smart Sump Pump Monitor to complete the test.
- The Monitor will choose an appropriate time to test. The monitor will watch the water level in your sump/crock rise beyond the normal operating level of the primary pump. If the monitor sees the water level drop, then it knows that the backup pump has cycled and informs you of a successful test. If the water level continues to rise too high, then the primary pump is turned back on to empty the sump/crock. In this case, you will receive an alert that the backup test was unsuccessful. You should take steps to ensure that the backup is operational.
