1234 Cartridge: Two Handle Kitchen Faucet With Escutcheon

A guide to installing a 1234 cartridge in a two handle kitchen faucet with a lower base plate.

 


Preparation: 

  • The water supply shut off valves must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet.
  • The following instructions assume the handle and associated handle pieces have been removed. For additional details, visit solutions.moen.com and select the type you are repairing. The faucet guide will contain specific information on handle assemblies associated with that style of product.

Disassembly:

1. Remove the cartridge nut (#1) by unthreading using pliers.

2. To remove the cartridge (#2), use pliers to grab the stainless steel cartridge stem and pull the cartridge (#2) out of the valve body (#3).

Assembly:  

1. Install the cartridge (#2). Ensure the two tabs on the cartridge (#2) align with the two notches on the valve body (#3).

2. Install the cartridge nut (#1) by threading it on. Tighten with pliers.
