14960 Diverter Kit- Installing in a Waterhill Kitchen Faucet

This article will explain the process of replacing the 14960 service kit.


Preparation:  

  • The water supply shut off valves must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet.
  • Recommended ToolsDiverter Bolt (supplied in the 14960 Diverter Kit), Phillips Screwdriver, Adjustable Wrench

Disassembly:

1. Unscrew the Spout Cap (#1).

2. Remove the Spout Cap (#1). 3. Remove Upper the Bearing (#2)

3 .Pull straight up to remove Spout (#3) from Hub Assembly (#4).

4. Use a screwdriver to loosen the Hub Assembly (#4). Remove the Hub Assembly (#4) from Valve.

5. Insert the Bolt into Old Diverter (#6). Grip the Bolt  with pliers, rotate to loosen the Old Diverter (#6).

Assembly:

1. Place the O-ring (#6) onto the base of the diverter (#5).

2. Tighten the Diverter (#6) with Bolt by hand.

3.Slide the Hub Assembly (#4) onto Valve. Tighten the Hub Assembly (#4) by hand. Using a screwdriver, tighten the Hub Assembly (M) 1/8 of a turn. Do not over-tighten.

4. Push the spout (#3) straight down onto the hub assembly (#4). Install the upper bearing washer (#2) onto the spout and thread the spout cap (#1) back on.
