Disassembly:

  1. Use an adjustable wrench to unthread and remove the black retainer nut (#1).
  2. To remove the cartridge (#2), pull up on stainless steel stem.

It is recommended to clean and flush the valve body (#3) prior to installing the new cartridge (#2). See article Valve Body Cleaning and Flushing for additional details

Assembly:

  1. The new cartridge (#2) will only fit in the valve body (#3) one way. Line up the three vertical ribs on the cartridge (#2) with the three vertical grooves in the valve body (#3) and insert the cartridge (#2).
  2.  Tighten the black retainer nut (#1) by hand until tight, then using pliers, rotate an additional 90° (1/4 turn) with a wrench.
