Note: The upper bearing washer (B) is designed to hold the faucet receptor (A) in place. It is plastic with a gap and is surrounded with a black rubber O-ring (C). Be careful not to expand or stretch the upper bearing washer (B) out of shape or tear the O-ring (C).

1. Remove the upper bearing washer and O-ring by using a pair of needle-nose pliers to gently pull back the prongs at the top (until it is loose and can be lifted from the faucet). The upper bearing washer and O-ring  will be reused for this installation, when removing it be careful not stretch it from it's original shape

Caution: Do not remove the black hexagonal shaped cartridge nut or the cartridge for this repair (see red circle below).

2. If you received a new 170206 service kit, slide the O-ring into the groove on the upper bearing washer. Position the upper bearing washer with the gap facing the back of the faucet. Lower the upper bearing washer down so the gap aligns with the raised rib on the back of the valve body. Confirm the bottom edge of the upper bearing washer is tucked into the top of the receptor and all the prongs are tucked under the overhang on the valve body (D) .

3. Test the installation. To confirm the upper bearing washer is in the proper position, gently pull up on the receptor to verify it is secure and will not lift up.

  • Receptor is not secure: This is an indication that the upper bearing washer is not seated properly against the valve body. Push the receptor down as far as it will go against the countertop/base. Next push the bottom edge of the upper bearing washer down into the top of the receptor. Ensure all the prongs are pressed under the overhang on the valve body. Re-test the installation. If the receptor is still not secure, contact us or call 1-800-BUY MOEN for a new 170206 bearing washer service kit.
  • Receptor is secure: Reassemble the handle pieces. If you need additional information, review Top Mount with Pullout Sprayer FaucetsOnce the handle has been reassembled, turn the water supply shut off valves back on.
