202233 Cartridge: Single Handle Bathroom Faucets (After 2021)

 Preparation:

  • The water supply shut off valves must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet.
  • Recommended Tools: The Installation Tool that was included with the faucet (Part number 118305) or 7/8" Socket
  • The following instructions assume the handle and associated handle pieces have been removed. For additional details, visit solutions.moen.com and select the type of product you are repairing. The faucet guide will contain specific information on handle assemblies associated with that style of product.

    1. Using the installation tool that was included with the faucet or a 7/8" socket, unthread the recessed black hexagonal cartridge nut (1) counter-clockwise, remove and discard it.

    2. Remove the cartridge (2) from the faucet.

    It is recommended to clean and flush the valve body (3) prior to installing the new cartridge (2). See article Valve Body Cleaning and Flushing for additional details.

    3. Line the two small tabs on the bottom of the cartridge (2) with the two round openings at the bottom of the valve body (3) and insert the cartridge (2).

    4. Use the installation tool that was included with the faucet or a 7/8" socket to firmly thread in the new cartridge nut (1).
