How to Operate a Single Handle Bathroom Faucet without a Handle (After 2009)

 

This guide will explain how to operate a Moen faucet with a broken or missing handle. If the faucet has been disassembled or is in the process of being serviced, follow the guidelines below to see what is required in order to safely operate the faucet.

Tools Needed: Pliers 

Knob Style

Do not turn you water on if the cartridge nut (see image below) is missing or not securely in place.

Use pliers to turn the water on and off:

  1. Push back on the chrome adapter to turn the water on.
  2. Pull the chrome adapter forward to turn the faucet off.

Use pliers to control the temperature:

  1. Rotate the chrome adapter clockwise for hot water.
  2. Rotate counterclockwise for cold water.

Use pliers to turn the water on and off:

  1. Push back on the stainless steel stem to turn the water on.
  2. Pull the stem forward to turn the faucet off.

Use pliers to control the temperature:

  1. Rotate the stem clockwise for hot water
  2. Rotate counterclockwise for cold water.
