How to Operate a Two and Three Handle Tub/Tub and Shower without a Handle
Preparation:

Do not turn your home water supply on if the cartridge retainer nut (see image below) has been removed from the shower valve. Ensure the cartridge retainer nut is installed in the valve. |
Use pliers to turn the water on and off:
Use pliers to control the temperature:

For models prior to 2009 Do not turn your home water supply on if the diverter retainer nut (see image below) has been removed from the shower valve. Ensure the diverter retainer nut is installed in the valve. Use pliers to control the diverter:

For models after 2009 Do not turn your home water supply on if the diverter retainer clip (see image below) has been removed from the shower valve. Ensure the diverter retainer clip is installed in the valve. Use pliers to control the diverter:
