New | Plug not completely plugged in. | Check that the plug is completely plugged into the wall outlet. |
New | Outlet is controlled by a wall switch. | A different outlet will need to be used. The Moen Instant Hot Tank is not designed to be used with an outlet controlled by an on/off switch. |
Existing | Plug was knocked loose from the outlet | Check that the plug is completely plugged into the wall outlet. |
New or Existing | Blown fuse | Examine the electrical service panel for the house. Depending on the style of the box, a breaker may have tripped or a fuse may need to be replaced. |
New or Existing | Broken Outlet | Plug another electrical device (ex: hairdryer, lamp, or cell phone charger) into the outlet to see if it works. If the Outlet is broken, it may require an electrician to replace it. |

Self-Resetting Fuse due to Dry Start |
If tank is empty and the thermostat set in the ON position when the power cord is connected, the self re-setting fuse in the heater control will disconnect the current to the heater after approximately one minute, thus protecting the heater from a “dry start” failure. The fuse in the heater control will self-reset after approximately 1 /2 hour (re-setting of fuse can be accelerated by turning on the water supply and dispensing water until fuse re-sets, approximately 3 minutes). Turn on the water supply to the tank and continue the installation.
