Kitchen Faucets: Reverse Osmosis-Leaking Issues

This article provides information on the most common leaking issues for Moen's Four-Stage Under-Sink Reverse Osmosis Advanced Water Filtration System
Symptom: Probable/Cause: Recommended Action:
The main kitchen faucet is leaking.  This would not be an indication there is an issue with the under-deck Reverse Osmosis system.  For Moen products, visit Solutions.moen.com for additional information or consult the manufacturer of your product.
The filtration faucet is dripping from the spout or leaking around the handle. This is a symptom that the filtration faucet's cartridge would need to be replaced.  Replace the cartridge.
Water leaks between the filter head and filter cartridge. An 0-ring is damaged, dirty, or out of place.
  1. Turn off the water supply, and relieve water pressure.
  2. Remove the filter cartridge and inspect the 0-rings for damage or debris, and ensure that the 0-rings are in place.
  3. Reinstall the filter cartridge, turn on the water supply, and check for water leakage.
Water leaks at a tubing connection. Tubing is not cut square, or is damaged or crimped.
  1. Turn off the water supply, and relieve water pressure.
  2. Press in the collar around the fitting at the leak, and pull the tubing to remove it.
  3.  Use a sharp utility knife or tube cutter to cut 1/2" (13mm) off the end of the tubing.
  4. Reinsert the tubing into the fitting.
  5. Turn on the water supply and check for leakage.
Water leaks at a threaded connection. The connection is damaged or dirty.
  1. Turn off the water supply, and relieve water pressure.
  2. Disconnect the fitting, and inspect the seal for damage or debris.
  3. Remove any debris or replace the damaged fitting.
  4. Securely reconnect the fitting, but do not overtighten.
  5. Turn on the water supply and check for leakage.
Water is coming out of the slot on the side of the faucet.  Any water coming from the slot means there is a back-up with the larger blue tube.
  1. Check the connection from the blue tube to the drain for any clogs.
  2. Check that the mounting hardware is not pinching that tube.
