Replacing a Side Spray

This article will provide step-by-step instructions for replacing this service kit.


Preparation: The water supply shut off valves must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet.


Disconnect the side spray hose using the chart below to determine your hose connection type. Use the chart to connect the service kit(s) sent by Moen.

Threaded Hose 

Prior to 1994-2007

  1. Use a channel lock or pliers to unscrew the hose coupling off of the threaded metal faucet body.
  2. From above the sink, grab ahold of the side spray and pull up through the hose guide.

Service Kit(s): Quick Connect Side Spray & Adapter 168666 (Male) or Adapter 168665 (Female)

1. Install the brass adapter 168666 or 168665 by threading it to the end of threads on the underside of the faucet. Remove the white protective sleeve.

2. Remove the protective plastic cap off the end of the side spray hose.

3. Attach the side spray hose onto the quick connect and insert the end of the quick connect over the faucet body. There will be an audible click to let you know the faucet part is secure. To test this, gently tug on the quick connect.

Double Quick Connect 11111111111

1. Disconnect the release tab(s).

Black Connector with white release tab-Squeeze the white tabs together and push the tabs in. Pull the hose from the quick connect.  

White Connector with black release tab-Press and hold the black button while pulling the hose out from the quick connect. 

2. From above the sink, grab ahold of the side spray and pull through the hose guide.

Service Kit: Quick Connect Side Spray

1. Remove the protective plastic cap off the end of the hose.

2. Attach the side spray hose back onto the quick connect. If using a double quick connect attach it to the faucet body.

Double Quick Connect: 11111111111

Built-in Single Quick Connect:

Black Connector with white release tab-Insert the end of the quick connect over the faucet body and press the white button in to lock the faucet part in. 

White Connector with black release tab- Insert the end of the quick connect over the faucet body. There will be an audible click to let you know the faucet part is secure.

3. To test this, gently tug on the quick connect.

Direct Connect Side Spray-Limited Models

1. Squeeze together the tabs on the retainer and pull down from the valve body to disengage.

2. Remove the the retainer from side spray hose. This will allow the hose to pull through the hose guide.

3. From above the sink, grab ahold of the side spray and pull through the hose guide.

Service Kit: Direct Connect Side Spray (Includes Retainer)

1. Snap the side spray retainer to end of the side spray hose.

2. The side spray hose and retainer will click into valve body for secure connection. Note: This piece will only fit in one way. Do not force it into the valve body.

3. To test this, gently tug on the quick connect.
