Shower Handle: 3372 and 3375 Independent Transfer Valves

Snag_ee2d92 (1).png

3372 transfer valve:

  • Independent Functions: 2
  • Shared Functions: 1

3375 transfer valve:

  • Independent Functions: 2
  • Shared Functions: 0

The 3372 transfer valve was introduced in 2009 and the 3375 transfer valve was introduced in 2012. They are both designed to divert water from one shower device to another (example: body sprays to a showerhead). Both the 3372 and 3375 Transfer valves require either a PosiTemp or a Moentrol shower valve to provide water to supply to the system.

Moen Transfer valves use different handle mechanisms and the set screw to remove the handles are not in the same access point. Use the information below to identify the location of the set screw for your transfer valve.

Location of Set Screw:

Behind the Plug Button

Used with valves: 3372 and 3375

This style of handle has a small hole on the underside of the decorative handle escutcheon that contains a Hex screw.

 Preparation:

  • The water supply must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet.
  • Recommended Tools: Phillips Screwdriver, 3/32" Hex Wrench, Adjustable Wrench, Piers
  • We recommend covering the drain before beginning so to not lose any parts down the drain.

If this is not your handle mechanism, see Vertical Spa: Transfer Valves article to learn more about the different handle mechanism types.

Disassembly:

1. Gently pry the cap (#1A) off of the end of the handle (#1C).

2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unthread the handle screw (#1B) counter-clockwise and remove the handle (#1C).

3. Slide the spacer (#1D) off the assembly.

To replace the cartridge (#1E), see article 116719 and 162154 Cartridge: 3372 or 3375 Independent Transfer Valves.

Assembly:

1. Confirm that the cartridge clip is installed and use pliers to pull the brass stem of the cartridge (#1E) outward. Note: To ensure the proper operation from the valve, the cartridge stem must remain pulled outward. Snag_185eeef.png
2. Rotate the stem of the cartridge (#1E) so the two flat sides of the brass stem are facing to the left and right.  Snag_bc04ec5.png
3. Slide the spacer (#1D) onto the assembly.
4. Position the handle (#1C) with the lever facing down, slide the handle (#1C) onto the assembly and use a Phillips screwdriver to thread the handle screw (#1B) clockwise until tight. Push the cap (#1A) back into the handle (#1C).

If this is not your handle mechanism, see Vertical Spa: Transfer Valves article to learn more about the different handle mechanism types.

Disassembly:

1. Remove the handle set screw (#2A) by inserting the 3/32" Hex wrench into the hole underneath the handle (#2B) to unscrew the set screw (#2A).

2. To remove the handle adapter (#2D), use a Phillips screwdriver to unthread the adapter screw (#2C) counter-clockwise.

3. Slide the spacer (#2E) off the shower assembly.

To replace the cartridge (#2F), see article 116719 and 162154 Cartridge: 3372 or 3375 Independent Transfer Valves.

Assembly:

1. Confirm that the cartridge clip is installed and use pliers to pull the brass stem of the cartridge (#2F) outward. Note: To ensure the proper operation from the valve, the cartridge stem must remain pulled outward. Snag_18f1681.png
2. Rotate the stem of the cartridge (#2F) so the two flat sides of the brass stem are facing to the left and right. Snag_bc04ec5.png
3. With the stem of the cartridge (#2F) pulled forward, slide the spacer (#2E) onto the assembly.
4. Slide the handle adapter (#2D) onto the shower assembly. Using a Phillips screwdriver, thread and tighten the adapter screw (#2C) into the center of the handle adapter (#2D).
5. With the lever pointing down, slide the handle (#2B) onto the adapter (#2D) and use a 3/32" hex wrench to tighten the handle screw (#2A).

If this is not your handle mechanism, see Vertical Spa: Transfer Valves article to learn more about the different handle mechanism types.

Disassembly:

Note: For model TS32205 (Weymouth collection), remove the lever by unthreading it counter-clockwise. Continue to step 1 Snag_978510.png

1. Remove the decorative handle escutcheon (#3C) by inserting the 3/32" Hex wrench into the hole underneath the decorative handle escutcheon (#3C). Loosen the set screw (#3A) enough to remove the decorative handle escutcheon (#3C).

Snag_386725.png
2. Slide the decorative handle escutcheon (#3C) over the handle (#3B). Snag_ff638ef.png
3. Loosen the handle set screw just enough to remove the handle #3B by inserting the 3/32" Hex wrench into the hole underneath the handle (#3B). Snag_c27611f.png
4. To remove the handle adapter (#3E), use a Phillips screwdriver to unthread the adapter screw (#3D) counter-clockwise.

To replace the cartridge (#), see article 116719 and 162154 Cartridge: 3372 or 3375 Independent Transfer Valves.

Assembly:

1. Rotate the stem of the cartridge (#3F) so the notch indentation is facing towards the 9 o'clock position. Snag_5aa0235.png
2. Slide the handle adapter (#3E) onto the cartridge stem (#3F). Ensure that the tab at the top of the adapter (#3E) is tucked below the overhang under the mounting bracket (#3G). Use an adjustable wrench to hold the handle adapter (#3E) in position and use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the adapter screw. Rotate the handle adapter (#3E) 90 degrees clockwise.

Snag_c210977.png

3. To ensure the handle (#3B) installs in the proper position, insert the 3/32" hex wrench into the handle set screw. While holding the hex wrench in place, slide the handle (#3B) on with the lever facing the 9 o'clock position until the hex wrench is flush against the mounting bracket tab (#3G). Tighten the handle set screw clockwise.

Note: The lever handle (#3B) may look different, but the installation is the same.

Note: The Hex wrench must be flush against the mounting bracket tab (#3G). Snag_107e04e.png Snag_f8648f (1).png

4. Position the decorative handle escutcheon (#3C) with the screw hole at the 12 o'clock position and it over the handle (#3B). Rotate the decorative handle escutcheon (#3C) 180 degrees so the decorative handle escutcheon set screw (#3A) is facing down.

5. Use a 3/32" Hex wrench to tighten the handle screw (#3B). Rotate the lever handle (#3B) 90 degrees counter-clockwise so the handle (#3B) faced down.

Note: For model TS32206 (Weymouth collection), install the lever by threading it onto the handle clockwise.
