Friction Washer vs. C-Clip

Moen's Commercial S-Series Spouts offer a unique feature to prevent spout rotation. For users who wish to restrict the spout movement, Moen provides two optional solutions. Each Commercial S‑Series Spout includes an optional washer or clip in the packaging. These components can be installed to help restrict rotation; however, their use is optional and not required for standard installation.

Preparation: The water supply shut off valves must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet

Friction Washer - 52025:	C-Clip - 163215:
The Friction Washer is a *Non Metallic Fiber* washer. To install the Friction Washer 52025: Unthread the S-Series spout (E) from the base. Place the Friction Washer (G) on the base of the Spout Hub. Secure the S-Series spout (E) on top. Turn the water supply shut off valves on.	The C-Clip is made of Brass. To install the C-Clip 163215: 1. Loosen the Spout Nut (D) by rotating it counter-clockwise 1.2 Lift the Spout (B) off the Spout Hub (F) 2. Lift the Spout Nut (D). 2.2 Remove the Plastic Bearing Washer (E) using pliers. If your model does not have a Plastic Bearing Washer (E) proceed to Step 3. 3. With Spout Nut (D) still lifted, place the C-Clip (A) on the base of the Spout (B) using pliers with depicted orientation (knurled edge facing upward). 4. Firmly place the Spout (B) onto the Spout Hub (F) 4.1* Tighten the Spout Nut (D) by rotating clockwise. 4.2 Turn the water supply shut off valves on.

Friction Washer - 52025:

C-Clip - 163215:

The Friction Washer is a Non Metallic Fiber washer.

To install the Friction Washer 52025:

Unthread the S-Series spout (E) from the base.
Place the Friction Washer (G) on the base of the Spout Hub.
Secure the S-Series spout (E) on top.
Turn the water supply shut off valves on.

The C-Clip is made of Brass.

To install the C-Clip 163215:
1. Loosen the Spout Nut (D) by rotating it counter-clockwise
1.2 Lift the Spout (B) off the Spout Hub (F)

2. Lift the Spout Nut (D).
2.2 Remove the Plastic Bearing Washer (E) using pliers.
*If your model does not have a Plastic Bearing Washer (E) proceed to Step 3.

3. With Spout Nut (D) still lifted, place the C-Clip (A) on the base of the Spout (B) using pliers with depicted orientation (knurled edge facing upward).

4. Firmly place the Spout (B) onto the Spout Hub (F)
4.1 Tighten the Spout Nut (D) by rotating clockwise.
4.2 Turn the water supply shut off valves on.
