Two Handle Bathroom Faucet 8" To 16" Spread

My handle has broken off my faucet

Identifying And Operating

The following instructions will explain how to operate your faucet without a handle being attached. If the faucet has been disassembled or in the process of being serviced, follow the guidelines below to see what is required in order to safely operate the faucet. If the faucet is leaking with the cartridge in the off position, you will need to turn the main water off to the faucet and discontinue use until the faucet can be serviced. Use the pictures below to identify your faucets cartridge type.

Widespread

(faucets measure 8" from the center of the hot handle to the center of the cold handle)

Make sure the cartridge nut is threaded onto the valve body. Click here for image.

To turn the water on and off (carefully using pliers).

Hot:

  • Rotate the plastic stem with vertical splines (grooves) clockwise for off. 
  • Rotate the plastic stem with vertical splines counterclockwise for on.

  • If the plastic stem with vertical splines is cracked:
    • If there is a Phillips head screw present, remove the Phillips head screw and plastic stem with vertical splines.  Make sure the plastic retainer nut is threaded down into the valve. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to reach the stem of the cartridge. Click here for image.
    • If there is not a Phillips head screw present, find the side of the extension that has five ribs at the top. Push on the side with five ribs. Using pliers, gently pull up on the extension to remove it. Click here for image.

Cold:

  • Rotate the plastic stem with vertical splines counterclockwise for off.
  • Rotate the plastic stem with vertical splines clockwise for on.

  • If the plastic stem with vertical splines is cracked:
