Pairing Your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff

This article includes detailed information on the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff, also known as the Flo by Moen Water Shutoff. It also refers to the Moen Smart Water app, also known as the Flo by Moen app.

Welcome to the Smart Water Network Family! Let's get started on pairing your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff.

Your onboarding experience depends on whether your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff is a new addition to your home, or if your home's Shutoff was previously installed by another owner. Please follow the instructions that best apply to you.

 

I'm Pairing a Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff before I have it installed

Congratulations! With your new Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff, you've chosen to protect your entire home from water damage and leaks, guaranteed. Let's continue with the set-up process and pair your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff following the steps below.

What You Will Need:
  1. Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff device (un-installed)
  2. Access to a power outlet
  3. Wifi connection, with the name and password handy
  4. Moen Smart Water app downloaded to your smartphone
  5. Account created in the Moen Smart Water app
How to Pair:
  1. Gather the materials you will need (see list above). Please note: You will need to create an account and location profile in the Moen Smart Water app prior to pairing.
  2. Plug your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff into a power outlet. Note: Twist and turn the cord until the second ring is completely in the device, where the cord connects to the shutoff.
  3. Open the Moen Smart Water app on your iOS or Android smartphone. Follow the in-app instructions to complete the pairing process with the following steps:
  4. Looking at the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff: With the VALVE light solid green, press and hold the Reset button for 5-10 seconds until the STATUS light begins to blink and press next.
  5. You will then be asked to scan the QR code on your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff with your smart phone. Scan the QR code and follow the steps on the Moen Smart Water app and complete the initial pairing instructions.

Once you have completed the pairing process, you are ready to install your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff to your main water line. We recommend installation to be completed by a licensed, professional plumber and we also have installation guides available.

I'm Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff that was previously installed

So, you’ve entered a new space with a Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff already installed. Smart move! If your device is connected to power, it is actively running in Local Mode to protect the home between inhabitants. Be sure to pair your device immediately to be able to use your home's water without being shut off.

The Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff is designed to automatically shut off the home’s water if abnormal use is detected. Until you pair, any water usage will be detected as “abnormal” and the automatic shutoff feature will disable water use within 5 seconds. Follow the instructions below to pair your system.

If you are unable to pair your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff to the home’s WiFi immediately, we recommend unplugging the device from the power source so that you can use your home’s water. Before you do this, Please note: As long as your device is offline, your home is not protected by the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff and not secure. When you are ready to protect your home from serious water damage, follow the steps below on how to pair.

What You Will Need:
  1. Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff device (already installed and plugged into power outlet)
  2. Wifi connection, with the name and password handy
  3. Moen Smart Water app downloaded to your smart phone
  4. Account created in the Moen Smart Water app

 

How to Pair:
  1. Gather the materials you will need (see list above). Please note: You will need to create an account and location profile in the Moen Smart Water app prior to pairing.
  2. Go to your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff, already installed on the main water line near the main shutoff valve.
  3. Check that the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff device is powered on (that it is connected to power and the VALVE light is green). Note: To make sure the device is fully plugged in, if you are plugging in the device, twist and turn the cord until the second ring is completely in the device (where the cord connects to the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff).
  4. Open the Moen Smart Water app on your iOS or Android smartphone. Follow the in-app instructions to complete the pairing process with the following steps:
  5. Looking at the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff: With the VALVE light solid green, press and hold the Reset button for 5-10 seconds until the STATUS light begins to blink.
  6. You will then be asked to scan the QR code on your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff with your smartphone. Scan the QR code and follow the steps on the Moen Smart Water app and complete the initial pairing instructions. Please note: If the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff is installed on the main water line in a way that prevents you from being able to scan the QR code using your smartphone, please contact support@meetflo.com or call 1-844-MEET-FLO to receive a digital version of the QR code you can use to pair with.
  7. Once you have completed the pairing process, you are all set Look out for informational emails from us as you continue to get to know your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff system.

    Please note, your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff's previous owner should have unlinked the device from their Flo by Moen account before your arrival. If you are unable to pair your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff and are seeing the, “Device already paired” message in your app, please contact our support team to remove the device from the previous account with the device MAC ID and Serial number ready.
