130157 Cartridge: 3/4" Exact Temp System (Prior to 2009)

This article will give step-by-step instructions on how to replace a 130157 volume control cartridge in a multi-handle vertical spa using the 3/4" Exact Temp valve system.

Preparation:

The water supply shut off valves must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet.
Recommended Tools: Phillips Screwdriver, Adjustable Wrench
The following instructions assume the handle and associated handle pieces have been removed. For additional details, visit solutions.moen.com and select the type you are repairing. The faucet guide will contain specific information on handle assemblies associated with that style of product.

Disassembly:

Use an adjustable wrench to unthread the brass flat cartridge nut (#3).
Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the cartridge by rotating counterclockwise (#4) and remove it from the valve body (#5).
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw (#1) from the cream colored plastic stem extension (#2) and remove it from the cartridge (#4).

Assembly:

Insert the Phillips screw (#1) through the cream colored plastic stem extension (#2) and tighten to the cartridge (#4).
Slide the cartridge (#4) and rotate clockwise in the valve body (#5). Using an adjustable wrench tighten the cartridge (#4).
Slide the brass flat cartridge nut (#3) over the cartridge (#4) and tighten with the adjustable wrench.
Rotate the cartridge stem (#4) clockwise until it stops.
