How to Operate a Moentrol or Standard without a Handle
This guide will explain how to operate a Moen shower with a broken or missing handle. If the shower has been disassembled or is in the process of being serviced, follow the guidelines in this article to see what is required in order to safely operate the shower.
Preparation:

This guide is for a single handle shower that the handle push/pulls for on/off and rotates to adjust temperature.

Do not turn your home water supply on if the cartridge retainer clip (see image below) is missing or not securely in place. Ensure the cartridge retainer clip is installed in the valve.
