How to Replace a 101951, 140325 or 161772 Lift Rod Diverter

There are different diverter lift rods that Moen Roman Tub faucets use. This article will explain how to remove the diverter and what the key identifiers are for which diverter you are working with.

To Access the Diverter

How to Remove the Spout & Diverter:

  • Unthread the diverter lift rod (#1) and remove it from the spout (#4).
  • Carefully pull out the plug button (#2). Using a 5/32" Hex wrench, unthread the spout screw (#3) (the spout screw (#3) needs to be removed completely) and lift the spout (#4) from the deck.
  • Use the diverter tool to loosen the lower diverter nut.
  • Pull the diverter out from the valve

To Install the Diverter & Spout:

Follow Steps in reverse order.
