Single Handle 4" Centerset Knob: Flat Cap (Prior to 2009)

Moen produces a variety of single handle bathroom faucets. The interior components and assembly are not the same for each model. This article will explain one of the more common handle assemblies referred to as a Flat Cap Knob. This version of the faucet was produced through 2009, and utilizes a 1225 cartridge.

Preparation:

DISASSEMBLY:

  1. Carefully pull the cap (#1) out of the handle (#3).
  2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the handle screw (#2). Lift off the handle (#3).
  3. Slide the stop tube (#4) off the faucet.

ASSEMBLY:

  1. Slide the stop tube (#4) back on.
  2. Place the handle (#3) onto the faucet.
  3. Using a Phillips screwdriver, install and tighten the handle screw (#2).
  4. Snap the cap (#1) onto the handle (#3)
