Single Handle 4" Centerset Lever: Bottle Opener

Moen produces a variety of single handle bathroom faucets. The interior components and assembly are not the same for each model. This article will explain one of the more common handle assemblies referred to as a Bottle Opener. The faucet has a flat metal cap on the top, and the lever can rotate 360 degrees. This faucet style utilizes a 1225 cartridge.

 Preparation:

DISASSEMBLY:

  1. Pry the cap (#1) out of the handle (#3).
  2. Using a Phillips or Flathead screwdriver (depending on your faucet) , remove the handle screw (#2). Lift off the handle (#3).

For replacing the cartridge see article 1225 Cartridge: Single Handle Bathroom Faucets (Prior to 2009).

ASSEMBLY:

1. The bottom end of the silver lever (#3) must be hooked to the flat edge is under the ridge on the retainer nut (#4). To best accomplish this, hold the handle body (#3) over the retainer nut (#4) and push the silver lever (#3) upwards to the on position. This will allow the bottom of the silver lever (#3) to stick out from the bottom of the handle body (#3). You will then be able to catch this under the ridge on the retainer nut (#4) and bring the handle (#3) forward.

2. Screw the handle screw (#2) back into the faucet. Snap the handle cap (#1) back onto the faucet.
