Using a 192731 Cartridge Removal Tool

The 192731 Moen Cartridge Puller can be used to the remove two handle cartridge 1258. This is used on the Roman Tub Long Valve if the 182500 stem extension comes out but the cartridge remains in the valve. (The 192731 Cartridge Puller is also known as the 1258 Roman Tub Fishing Tool).

Use these instructions when you were removing the 182500 Stem Extension Roman Tub Long Valve and the cartridge did not stay attached to the stem extension during the removal.

  1. Align the bottom of the 192731 removal tool (#1) with the top of the silver stem of the cartridge (#2). Slide the removal tool (#1) over the top of the cartridge (#2).
  2. Twist the removal tool (#1) 90 degrees to lock it onto the cartridge (#2) and pull the cartridge (#2) out.

It is recommended to clean and flush the valve body prior to installing the new cartridge (#2). See Valve Body Cleaning and Flushing and Cartridge Replacement: 1258 Handle Mechanism: Stem Extension (Long) for additional details.
