Single Handle Kitchen Faucet Installed Prior to November 2006

My handle has broken off my faucet

Identifying And Operating  

 The following instructions will explain how to operate your faucet without a handle being attached. If the faucet has been disassembled or in the process of being serviced, follow the guidelines below to see what is required in order to safely operate the faucet. If the faucet is leaking with the cartridge in the off position, you will need to turn the main water off to the faucet and discontinue use until the faucet can be serviced. Use the pictures below to identify your faucets cartridge type.

Tools Needed: Pliers  pliers.png

Ensure the retainer clip is installed on the valve and the spout nut (different terms for different faucet styles) is still threaded on the spout.

To turn the water on and off (using pliers):

  • Pull up on the brass cartridge stem to turn the water on.
  • Push down to turn the water off. 

To control the temperature (using pliers):

  • Turn left for hot
  • Turn right for cold.
