Kitchen Handle: Direct Connect 4000

Moen produces a variety of Single Handle faucets. The interior components and assembly are not the same for each model. This article will explain one of the newer handle assembly referred to as a Direct Connect 4000. This handle mechanism was introduced in 2005 and is very similar to the Direct Connect 1255. The characteristics of the mechanism include a handle rotation range of 110 degrees and an opening on the back of the handle for the set screw. This faucet style utilizes a 4000 cartridge.

*Depending on the model, the set screw hole may be located in the back of the handle.*

1. Insert the 3/32" Hex wrench into the hole on the handle to unscrew the set screw. This screw does not need to be fully removed.

2. Lift the handle off of the faucet.

To replace the cartridge see article 4000/40002 Cartridge: Kitchen Faucet.

1. Place the handle back onto the faucet.

2. Insert the 3/32" Hex wrench into the hole on the handle to tighten the set screw.
