Kitchen Handle 2H: Knob Flat Cap (After Late 2019)

Moen produces a variety of two handle kitchen faucets. The interior components and assembly are not the same for each model. This article will explain one of the newest handle assemblies, introduced in 2019. A characteristic of this mechanism is a large round cap on the top of the handle. When the cap is removed no screw is visible. This faucet style utilizes a 1234 cartridge.

Preparation:  The water supply shut off valves must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet.

  2. Push and hold down on the knob (#3) while rotating the retainer clip (#2) until the retainer clip (#2) pulls off.
  3. Lift the knob (#3) off. There is a spring inside the knob (#3) that will come off with the knob (#3).
  4. Remove the gray plastic escutcheon ring (#4).

To replace the cartridge, see article 1234 Cartridge: Two Handle Kitchen Faucet With Escutcheon.

Assembly:

  1. Place the gray plastic escutcheon ring (#4) on top of the faucet.
  2. Set the handle (#3) on the faucet.
  3. Push and hold the knob (#3) down while sliding the retaining clip (#2) over the stem of the cartridge (#6) and rotate the retaining clip (#2) 1/4 turn clockwise.
  4. Push the cap (#1) back in the top of the knob (#3).
