Kitchen Handle 2H: Threaded Hub

Moen produces a variety of two handle kitchen faucets. The interior components and assembly are not the same for each model. This article will explain the Threaded Hub handle assembly. This faucet style utilizes a 1224 cartridge.

Preparation: The water supply shut off valves must be turned off- see article How to Turn Off the Water Supply to the Faucet.

Disassembly:

While holding the lever (#1) stationary, unscrew the base of the handle hub (#2) counter-clockwise to remove the complete handle.

To replace the cartridge see article:

Assembly:

The handles must be assembled in in the off position. To accomplish this, rotate the stem extensions (#3) all the way clockwise for the hot side, or counter-clockwise for the cold side.
Place the handle assembly on top of the faucet in the off position.
While holding the lever (#1) stationary, thread the base of the handle hub (#2) clockwise to install the complete handle.
