Question 10: What are the vandal resistant features for Moen Commercial Sensor Flush Valves?

Question 27: Can an ADA Grab Bar be installed behind a toilet using a Moen Commercial Sensor Flush Valve? 

• Answer: The Moen Commercial Sensor Flush Valve (FV) is designed with a low profile and features a removable front shell for easy battery access. 
• Moen also offers a 1-1/2" Offset Tail Piece, service kit 104560 that includes an offset discharge tube specifically for use with the Moen Commercial Sensor Flush Valve. This offset tube can be installed to accommodate the presence of the grab bar. For users of the bedpan washer, 8" Offset Tube with 1-1/2" Diameter, service kit 104600 offers a slightly shorter offset discharge tube, which can also be installed to account for the grab bar.

Question 28: Can the Moen Commercial Sensor Flush Valve be installed with the inlet elbow on the left or right side?

• Answer: Yes, the Moen Commercial Sensor Flush Valves are versatile and can be used in both right and left hand applications. To accommodate either orientation, simply remove two screws to rotate the cap 180º. This flexibility ensures that the Moen Commercial Sensor Flush Valve can be installed to suit your specific needs and space constraints.

• Answer: No, not at this time, Moen only offers the Moen Commercial Sensor Flush Valves in chrome.

Question 30: Is the sensor self-adaptive or adjustable on Moen Commercial Sensor/Electronics Flush Valves and Faucets? How often do you need to adjust it? 

• Answer: Yes, the sensor is adjustable for sensing distance according to user preference. Typically, installers will not need to adjust the distance.
• Additionally, the sensor is self-adaptive to ambient lighting conditions.
• The sensor distance range is up to 17” for urinals and 17-36” for water closets. The default out-of-box distances are 12” for urinals and 24” for water closets.

Question 31: How do you set Sentinel Flow/Flush on Moen Commercial Sensor/Electronics Flush Valves and Faucets ?

• Answer: Sentinel flow/flush is initially set to “off” when the device is shipped from the factory. To activate sentinel flow/flush, please consult the provided instruction sheet or Sentinel Flow Video. Sentinel flow/flush must be activated or deactivated within 5 minutes of power up through program change mode.

Note: if you choose to modify other settings, program change mode is available for 5 minutes when the valve is powered-up.  You can access program change mode as many times as you want in that first 5 minutes.  After the valve has been powered for 5 minutes, you must disconnect the power and reconnect to have program change mode available again.

Question 32: How long does Sentinel Flush/Flow run when "on" and how often does it flow on a Moen Commercial Sensor/Electronics Flush Valves and Faucets?

• Answer: If on, sentinel flush will flush once after 24 hours of non-use.
• Time period is not adjustable.
• The flush valve will retain its settings when powered off.  If “on” and you wish to turn it “off”, this must also be done through program change mode.

Question 33: What battery type and brand is recommended for the Moen Commercial Sensor/Electronics Flush Valves and Faucet ?

• Answer: The recommended battery type is alkaline for the Moen Commercial Sensor/Electronics Flush Valves and Faucet . Please note that rechargeable batteries will not work with these products.

• Answer: Each Moen Commercial Sensor/Electronics Flush Valves and Faucet  is shipped with a 4 pack of AA alkaline batteries.

• Answer: Yes, the Moen Commercial Sensor/Electronics Flush Valves and Faucet is compatible with lithium batteries. Depending on the manufacturer, lithium batteries may last up to 25% longer than alkaline batteries.

Question 36: Can a 10 year battery be used on Moen Commercial Sensor/Electronics Flush Valves and Faucets? 

• Answer: Battery life is dependent on the daily usage of the products. Any 10 year alkaline or lithium AA battery that are installed fresh into these products will last approximately 10 years if the usage is under 100 cycles/day.
• Moen does not offer any alternative energy/energy harvesting products at this time. Moen's focus is on simplicity, cost, availability, and serviceability. The Moen Commercial Sensor Flush Valve runs on common AA batteries to minimize our customers total cost of ownership.

Question 37: What is the battery life (alkaline vs. lithium) for a Moen Commercial Sensor/Electronics Flush Valves and Faucet ?

• Answer: Battery life varies significantly based on usage patterns and battery type:
• At 150 uses/day, the batteries will last approximately 8+ years
  • In high usage areas, alkaline batteries will last approximately 1,000,000+ cycles
  • In low usage areas, alkaline batteries will last approximately 10 years total: installation time + shelf time
