Bath Faucet Compatibility

Faucet Compatibility

This bath faucet compatibility guide will help guide you to knowing what style faucets are compatible with the holes in your current sink. You will most likely have to remove the old faucet in order to see exactly how many holes your current sink has. You may be able to look underneath the sink to see how many holes the sink has however sometimes this can be very difficult to tell.

When purchasing a new faucet, if the new faucet comes with a lift rod for the drain, make sure there is enough clearance between the back of the faucet and the wall/backsplash for the lift rod to properly operate. Consult your Moen specification sheet for clearance information.

Single Hole

If your sink has a single hole in it, you can use any faucet that is designed for a single hole mount. Some models come with an escutcheon (base) plate however they are not all required to be installed with the faucet. For this configuration, you will want a model that does not require an escutcheon plate. It depends on the model so it is always best to check the specification sheet on whether or not it can be installed without the escutcheon plate. Click here for an example of a specification sheet.

4 Inch Spread

If your sink has three holes in it and measures 4 inches from the center of the hot handle to the center of the cold handle, you can use any centerset faucet. If you are not sure if the new faucet is a widespread or centerset faucet, you can refer to the specification sheet for the faucet. Click here for an example.

8-16 Inch Spread

If your sink has three holes in it and measures anywhere between 8 and 16 inches from the center of the hot handle to the center of the cold handle, you currently have a widespread faucet. Widespread faucets generally come packaged in trim kits (these model numbers will start with the letter "T") separate from the valve underneath the faucet. A trim kit consists of the finished pieces above the counter (ex: handles and spout). If the trim and valve come together then the widespread model number will not have the letter "T" in front of it. Please click here to see if your current valve is compatible with new trim. If you are not sure if the new faucet is a widespread or centerset faucet, you can refer to the specification sheet for the faucet. Click here for an example.

If a new valve is needed to be purchased separately, the model number is a 9000. Please note that a widespread faucet can not fit in a 4" centerset hole configuration.
